Business Consultancy Scheme

The Business Consultancy Scheme (BCS) provides funding for businesses looking to engage external consultants to complete tangible business improvement projects.

Benefits

  • Grants of 50% towards the consultancy cost of projects in a variety of areas;
  • Maximum level of assistance of up to £7,500 per project;
  • Enables businesses to engage with a range of external technical consultants to deliver the project; and
  • Includes a Business Advisory Service which is fully funded by the Department.

  • Transactional Websites (also available to local non-exporting retail businesses with a physical high street presence)

Eligibility

The applicant business must:

  • Be registered or incorporated on the Isle of Man; and
  • Employ workers (other than the owners) resident on the Island for Income Tax purposes, (except for start-ups and Business Advisory Service projects).
  • Declare whether they are up to date with Income Tax, NI and VAT at the time of application and throughout the project.

Important notes:

  1. Grants are not retrospective. Any projects commenced or paid for before the application form has been submitted are ineligible for support.
  2. Grants cannot be paid towards the purchase of any products, materials, hardware or software etc.
  3. Quotes - In all cases, applications must be submitted with 3 quotations from different independent external project consultants who are based on Island and itemised to identify the charges associated with each part of the project.  
  4. The project should ideally create new jobs, increase revenues and/or increase efficiency. The applicant will be required to demonstrate and report upon these areas to the Department at the completion of the project or within 12 months of completion depending on the Project discipline.
