Employment Incentives
The Scheme is designed to encourage job growth and the import of skills from outside of the Isle of Man in certain sectors, where businesses have been unable to recruit locally.
Features & Benefits
- The Scheme can provide financial assistance to local businesses where: -
- permanent roles are filled by either off-Island workers, recent on-Island graduates or Manx graduates returning to the Island; and
- seasonal roles are filled by off-Island workers or Manx students currently studying off-Island.
- For permanent employees, the scheme provides a 25% grant of up to £10,000 towards the cost of a relocating employee’s first year net salary (minimum salary must be £25,000) paid 1 year in arrears
- For seasonal and temporary employees in an eligible sector undertaking a qualifying role, a flat-rate of £1,000 is available which is payable in two instalments of £500
- Can support existing or new roles within the organisation
- Includes back-filled positions, as long as the same role has not been supported under this scheme previously
- Helps local employers find additional, skilled workers and ensure they find continued growth and success in the Isle of Man
KEY CONDITIONS
The business
- must have a permanent establishment on the Island;
- must be an eligible business under the Enterprise Act 2008 (Eligible Businesses) Regulations 2018*;
- be up-to-date in respect of Income Tax, VAT and National Insurance;
- must have advertised the job locally prior to recruiting off-Island;
- must be expanding its workforce on the Island; and
- must submit their application in advance of appointment.
The job
- must offer a minimum starting salary of £25,000 (or pro-rated equivalent if temporary staff);
- must be a full-time role in which the employee is contracted to work a minimum of 30 hours per week; and
- if the role is permanent, the role must have been advertised on-Island (unless exempt) for a minimum of two weeks, associated evidence must be provided.
The employee
- must be directly employed by the business;
- must work predominantly on the Island;
- must become resident on the Island for income tax purposes, unless a Manx graduate
