Last chance for undergraduates to apply for 2018 Step Programme
21 March 2018
Undergraduate students in their second year of studies are being encouraged to apply for the Department for Enterprise’s STEP Programme ahead of the deadline on Tuesday 27th March 2018.
The STEP Programme places undergraduate students with small and medium sized organisations on the Isle of Man during an eight week period, across the summer break. Students undertake specific projects relevant to the business before showcasing their findings and competing to win the title of ‘Most Enterprising Student’.
Lawrie Hooper MHK, Member with responsibility for Enterprise Support at the Department for Enterprise commented:
‘Feedback from students and hosts in the past has been very positive. The STEP Programme supports the Isle of Man’s Programme for Government’s policy to ensure that young people on the Island have the skills and knowledge to be ready to enter the workplace. The Programme continues to be a fantastic opportunity for students to undertake a paid for summer job within a local organisation while gaining real life office experience in preparation for their job search post-graduation.’
Enrolment for the Programme is simple and students receive a training allowance of £240 per week, work place experience, personal development, the chance to work on a genuine organisational project, and the possibility of a permanent job offer post-graduation.
Last year the STEP Programme saw a record 45 students take part in the scheme, undertaking projects within the public and private sector.
