Locate Isle of Man seeks partners for Manx Graduate Fair
10 October 2019
The Department for Enterprise has announced plans to host a second Graduate Fair in 2020, which will highlight the breadth and diversity of the Island’s economy and the opportunities available within it for graduates. Expressions of interest are sought for partner businesses who would like to take part and exhibit at the event.
This year’s event took place in April and welcomed more than 200 student and graduate delegates, and representatives from more than 30 local businesses, to the informative conference. Attendees heard from graduates who have relocated or returned to the Island, benefitted from workshop sessions with local recruiters and also took part in an informal panel event which was run in conjunction with Isle of Man Business Network.
Building on the success of the event, which resulted in a number of students being offered employment opportunities in the Island, the 2020 fair will expand in scale and programme content, allowing an even greater number of local organisations to take part.
The 2020 Isle of Man Graduate Fair will take place on Friday 17th April at the Villa Marina.
Minister for Enterprise, Laurence Skelly MHK, commented:
‘I am delighted that the Isle of Man Graduate Fair will return in 2020, and that there will be capacity for even wider engagement with our local businesses next year. Encouraging our Manx graduates to return is an important part of the Locate Isle of Man strategy as it allows us to support our businesses in finding the skilled workers they need to achieve their ambitions. By showcasing the diverse array of opportunities available in the Island, we can demonstrate that the Isle of Man offers more than just an excellent quality of life for its residents: it is also a rewarding and stable place to launch an exciting career.’
The Isle of Man Graduate Fair aims to introduce graduates with local businesses who are recruiting, and businesses who take part will be able to showcase the opportunities that their organisations offer. They will also be encouraged to take part in networking sessions and undertake interviews with students for upcoming vacancies.
Businesses who would like to take part are requested to register their interest by visiting https://www.gov.im/categories/working-in-the-isle-of-man/isle-of-man-graduate-fair-2020-expressions-of-interest/. A separate registration for students and attendees will open in the New Year.
The graduate fair is being hosted by Locate Isle of Man, an initiative from the Department for Enterprise, which promotes the Isle of Man as a place to live, work and do business. www.locate.im
