New dates for STEMFest event announced

29 November 2024

The Department for Enterprise has announced that STEMFest will now take place on 26 and 27 March 2025 at the Villa Marina, having been postponed earlier this year.

STEMFest is an educational initiative for year five and six primary school students across the Isle of Man. First held in 2018, the event is delivered in collaboration with Island-based businesses and aims to nurture students' curiosity about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) subjects through real world applications of classroom learning.

All primary schools across the Island have been informed of the new date, and the majority have confirmed their participation.

Tim Johnston MHK, Minister for Enterprise, commented:

‘As promised following the necessary decision to postpone, I am pleased that the Department has been able to secure a new date for this important event. We were keen to ensure that no year group misses out on attending, and the new date in March will allow sufficient time to arrange logistical and industry support.

‘The STEMFest event is a highlight in each school's learning calendar and we are fortunate to have private sector companies that volunteer their time and effort to put on an impressive display of interactive exhibits for the students.

‘Enabling lifelong learning is a core part of the Isle of Man’s Skills Strategy to help us meet the needs of employers into the future. We know from research that by nurturing a love for STEM subjects early on in our students we are helping to shape the innovators and problem solvers of tomorrow, who will in turn drive our industries and contribute to the Island’s growth and prosperity into the future.’

Sponsors and exhibitors looking to participate on the new dates are encouraged to reach out at stemfest@gov.im to speak with the team.
