Registrations are now open for the annual Visit Isle of Man ‘Tourism Industry Day’ which is taking place on Tuesday 26th February 2019 at the Villa Marina. The event will be hosted by Visit Isle of Man (an Executive Agency of the Department for Enterprise) and provides an opportunity for businesses within the tourism industry to find out more about the strategic direction of the new public-private partnership.

Accommodation providers, activity and attraction providers, restaurateurs and retailers are all encouraged to attend, however, any Isle of Man businesses with an interest in tourism and the visitor economy are welcome.

The main morning presentation will be led by the Non-Executive Agency Chair, Ranald Caldwell before presentations which will provide an overview of Visit Isle of Man’s marketing plans for the year ahead, and grants and assistance schemes available to tourism businesses.

Rob Callister MHK, Political Member with responsibility for Visit Isle of Man and motorsport commented:

‘I would encourage all businesses to take advantage of the help and support offered by Visit Isle of Man as part of their ongoing strategy to work with industry partners for the continued growth of the visitor economy. The Island has such a vibrant and diverse tourism and hospitality industry and it is essential we all work together to build and promote the Isle of Man as a quality visitor destination.’

Angela Byrne, Head of Visit Isle of Man at the Department for Enterprise, added:

‘This will be the 8th Industry Day hosted by Visit Isle of Man and builds on the success of previous events. As an agency we are constantly looking at industry and consumer trends and we continue to work with the industry to provide them with the tools that can help them run a successful business in this ever changing landscape.

‘We are delighted to have secured two keynote speakers from within our key growth markets for this year’s event. Debbie Marshall from Silver Travel Advisor, an award-winning travel review, information and advice website for mature travellers, will be presenting on the Over 50s market and Tony Berry, Visitor Experience Director at the National Trust, who has transformed the Trust for the family market will be providing insights on how we can look to increase visitor numbers in this area.’

The event also offers networking opportunities, and informative workshops tailored for the Island's tourism and hospitality industry. A choice of digital marketing sessions will include a social surgery by the newly appointed digital advisor on behalf of Visit Isle of Man, Alison Teare of Simply Marketing.
