Support measures for businesses and workers to be announced on Monday
20 March 2020
A package of emergency measures to support businesses and workers during the coronavirus pandemic will be announced at 1pm on Monday.
Treasury Minister Alfred Cannan MHK will make the announcement and has today issued a message to all those currently affected that support will be available and that Government staff are working tirelessly to finalise arrangements.
Minister Cannan said: ‘We are listening to your concerns and will be bringing forward assistance designed to support employers during this difficult period and beyond. We recognise the urgency of the situation and will deliver a package - in addition to schemes introduced this week - that includes a range of social support measures for workers and their families.
‘Every day brings its own challenges and we are in uncharted waters in many respects. The environment is dynamic, but our focus holds steady. We will do what is best for the Island and its people.’
Enterprise Minister Laurence Skelly MHK said: ‘Sectors across our economy are facing unprecedented challenges and Government will respond to ensure business has the support it needs. The communication channels are open and we are working in collaboration with industry to help protect livelihoods.’
