Visit Isle of Man - How can we help survey launched
20 June 2018
The Department for Enterprise is appealing to tourism sector businesses to complete this year’s Visit Isle of Man - How Can We Help Survey which will measure past engagement with Department-led initiatives and opportunities, and give businesses the chance to suggest what they would like to see offered in the future.
Visit Isle of Man supports a range of tourism related businesses including accommodation providers, activity providers, attraction owners, event organisers and eateries. As well as facilitating and supporting new businesses and product development, Visit Isle of Man provides training and development opportunities, networking events, and ongoing support for existing partners.
Angela Byrne, Head of Visit Isle of Man, commented:
‘The survey hopes to open communications between the new Visit Isle of Man agency and local industry to establish needs of selected businesses or event organisers and areas which need more support as well as identify a training programme for the sector. In turn, this will benefit the quality and service delivered to visitors on the Island.’
Last year’s results identified that the sector would like to receive monthly updates on events, touring groups and themed promotions. Visit Isle of Man has since released the Isle of Man event calendar and regularly requests submissions of seasonal special offers via the monthly trade e-newsletter.
In the 2017 survey, 79% of respondents found the Trade e-newsletters informative and Visit Isle of Man encourages all industry members to sign for the updates which include key information and details of events and training sessions available.
When asking about training opportunities, social media marketing was the most popular course requested which resulted in a programme of beginners and advanced sessions planned during winter 2017. The Visit Isle of Man team also hosted four tourism drop-in sessions which covered the north, east, west and south of the Island to manage individual business enquiries.
