Young professionals encouraged to attend new networking event series in the Isle of Man

17 June 2024

Locate Isle of Man, a division within the Department for Enterprise, has today launched its first series of Connection Events for young professionals in the Isle of Man to encourage them to broaden social circles and build professional connections.

The first Connection Event in the series will take place at Black Dog Oven in Peel on Thursday 13 June 2024, from 6:30pm – 8:30pm. Tickets cost £10 per person and include soft drinks, pizza, and the associated Eventbrite fee.

The second event in the series will take place at Mad Jack’s in Douglas on Saturday 23 August, from 7:00pm – 9:00pm. Tickets cost £10 per person and include a welcome drink, access to their axe throwing lanes under guided supervision for one hour and the associated Eventbrite fee.

Adam Belfield, Head of Wealth and Personal Banking at HSBC Isle of Man, sponsor of the Connection Events series, said:

‘HSBC is delighted to be sponsoring Locate Isle of Man’s Connection Events this year. As an organisation, we want to support the growth of new talent on the Island, and this is a great initiative to bring young professionals together to network and build new connections.’

Ann Corlett MHK, Political Member for Locate Isle of Man, added:

‘The Isle of Man’s long-term Economic Strategy signalled an ambition for the Isle of Man to attract and retain a younger, more diverse economically active population. This event series seeks to encourage our young people to stay and build their futures in the Island by enabling them to broaden their network within the community and supporting them to integrate into Island life.

‘This initiative builds on the successful Relocation Events series which have been delivered in recent years, and aligns to Locate Isle of Man’s broader commitments in the 2024 Department Plan, to develop an ecosystem and activity programme to further engage with our young people and showcase the wonderful lifestyle the Isle of Man affords its residents.’

These events are part of the Graduates and Young Professional programme being developed by Locate Isle of Man, which includes activities such as the Graduate & Young Professional Fair.
